Did you know that on average, 70 percent of emissions from events are caused by mobility? According to the Federal Environment Agency, driving one kilometre in a diesel or petrol-powered car is more than 15 times as harmful to the climate as travelling one kilometre by train. And one kilometre by plane generates over 31 times more emissions. We explain how you can travel safely to Ruhrtriennale events and reduce your emissions at the same time.

Travelling by public transport – free of charge!

Each Ruhrtriennale ticket is also a KombiTicket and can be used throughout the entire Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) network on the day of the event, on all buses and local trains (2nd class), for a return journey to and from the venue. Tickets are valid on the day of the visit until 3 a.m. the next day. Our events are planned so that you can get home quickly by public transport, even after the final applause.

Alternatively, in many towns there are on-demand shuttle services. Simply download the app, enter your starting point and time, and you’ll be taken comfortably to your destination. On our website we provide you with more details about Bussi in Essen and Mybus in Duisburg!

Travelling by bike

Each venue has a sufficient number of permanently installed bicycle racks if you travel to the event with your own bicycle. There are also metropolradruhr stations close to the venues. Travelling as a group? All you need is one account to rent up to four bikes at the same time. The basic rate is only €1/15 min.
