Open Call: Ruhrtriennale 2024 is looking for extras for "Abendzauber"

The Ruhrtriennale 2024's own production Abendzauber, lasting several hours, is designed as a walk-through music installation. Under the direction of Krystian Lada, Chorwerk Ruhr will perform the choral works of Anton Bruckner in combination with songs by Björk. 

For the production, we are looking for 12 extras with performative skills to perform on the various levels of the impressive architecture of the Mischanlage of the Kokerei Zollverein, Essen. They will perform movements in a loop according to a sequence created by choreographer Dominika Knapik. The production is immersive, the boundary between performer and audience is blurred.  

To represent the diversity of society, we are searching for performers of diverse genders, nationalities, body types, ages, sexual orientations and identities.  

• no age restriction, no preferred gender 
• sense for movement and performative processes  
• willingness to show your body (possibly stage nudity, underwear)  
• living in the Ruhr area (travel and accommodation are not included)  

Unfortunately, accessibility for wheelchair users cannot be provided due to the building.  

Expected rehearsal dates: 17th/18th/19th/20th/21st/22nd Aug 2024   
Premiere: 23rd Aug 2024, approx. 15–21.40 p.m.   
Further performance dates: 24th and 25th Aug 2024, each approx. 15–21.40 p.m.
Rehearsal and performance venue: Mischanlage, UNESCO Welterbe Zollverein, Essen   

You should be available on all rehearsal and performance dates.   

Participation will be paid. Communication will be in English.
