A dance piece about dealing with nature

What will our future look like? There is no clear answer for this, but we can try to form one together. FUTUR PROCHE is an attempt to find a way of expressing our immediate future. Huge challenges such as climate change, epidemics and wars demand that we do something. With FUTUR PROCHE, the choreographer Jan Martens enables us to consider potential alternatives for our world in future: He translates his fascination for the virtuosity of the harpsichord into choreography. In repetitive, fluttering dance, based on daily movements such as skipping and walking, we see a group dance emerging in which individuals increasingly stand out. The dancers of Opera Ballet Vlaanderen represent a driven but close-knit community in an environment that is increasingly under threat. At its centre, the harpsichordist Gośka Isphording performs live, producing powerful rhythms with her lightning-fast fingers. She steers the dance on to exhausting heights. Followed by enlightenment. Are we in a position to achieve collective change?

Introduction

An introduction will take place in the upper foyer of the Jahrhunderthalle Bochum one hour before the start of each event. The introduction is in English language.
Sensory stimuli

Some scenes take place partly in complete darkness.
Artist Talk

Following the performance on Saturday, 7 Sept, we invite interested people to an artist talk with participants of the production.

Construction site information

Since 6 August, the A40 has been fully closed between the Bochum-West junction and the Bochum-Harpen junction due to the construction of a new bridge. Visitors to the Ruhrtriennale must be prepared for increased traffic on the diversion routes, which we have summarised for you here.

Audio description and haptic tour
Audio descriptions will be offered for the performance on 8th September. A team of non-sighted and sighted authors will produce a description of what happens on stage and the performance’s stage and costume designs. The necessary receivers can be borrowed free of charge against a deposit. In addition, a haptic tour will be offered before the performance with a chance to explore the stage in advance.
The audio description team consists of Linda Wolf, Daniela Riebesam, Sabine Kuxdorf and Yasha Müller.
