Diversion routes

Long-distance traffic in direction Dortmund and Essen

The A448 motorway in the south of Bochum can be used as a diversion route. This begins at the Bochum-West junction. At the Bochum/Witten junction, take the A43 and then the A40 again at the Bochum junction. For motorists travelling in the direction of Essen, the same route applies only in the opposite direction.

Travelling from Bochum to Dortmund

Car drivers can continue to join the A40 motorway from the Bochum city area as long as they are not travelling in the direction of the roadworks. The A40 can still be accessed in the direction of Dortmund via the Bochum-Zentrum, -Stadion and -Harpen slip roads.

Travelling into Bochum city centre

Car drivers travelling to reach Bochum city centre can take the Wittener Straße, Altenbochum, Wiemelhausen (Universitätsstraße), Bochum-Süd (Königsallee), Weitmar, Eppendorf and Stahlhausen exits from A448. Alternatively, take the B226 or Universitätsstraße into Bochum city centre.

Visitors to the Ruhrtriennale must be prepared for increased traffic congestion.
