A genre-busting song Recital.

He writes songs about racism and other tough Topics that reflect the reality of many Black people in the USA. Tyshawn Sorey, winner of the 2024 Pulitzer Prize for Music, is just as adept at new music as he is at jazz and finds new forms with every task he confronts. With the song cycle Cycles of My Being and the 20 minute countertenor aria Save the Boys, he takes his place among the great art song composers.
