Workshops for young and old

Ruhrtriennale offers a range of different workshops as part of an expanded understanding of outreach work. With regards to barrier sensitivity, the festival is not only concerned with providing access to various events for people with disabilities. Sensitising the audience through workshops is equally important. We have invited specialised lecturers who provide insights into different (body) languages and the experience of reality from a different perspective, as “practical exercises in democracy”.

Build your Puppet! – Figurenbau-Workshop für die Celebration Parade
During our Celebration Parade, a pair of elephants and their offspring will be exploring Bochum's Westpark on Saturday, 31st August. The colourful spectacle also attracts native animal species curious about the visit from South Africa. These are built and crafted by young and old festival visitors themselves: Under professional guidance, children and families can make their own animal figures and then use them to accompany the musical parade at 2 p.m., 3.30 pm or 5 p.m. In addition to building the figures, the workshop will also provide some practical tips on how to impressively bring the animal figures to life.
The free workshop will take place from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Wunderland Festival Centre and can be attended at any time without registration.

Einführung in den traditionellen Roma-Tanz
The Dortmund dance group Romano Than was founded at the end of 2016 by Elena Preduca as part of Romano Than e.V. The members meet twice a week to cultivate and develop the cultural heritage of traditional Roma dance. The workshop participants are introduced to the basics of Roma dance as part of the Ruhrtriennale. The audience can experience the mature form in Unlocking Paradise, the theatre piece with communities from the Ruhr area, on 7 and 8 Sept at PACT Zollverein.

Kreative Gesprächsformate mit Triennale Teens Talk
The young people involved in this year's Triennale Teens Talk project will develop various creative and interactive discussion formats during the festival weeks and put them in dialogue with the audience. At the end of their project, they will present their developed formats and experiences from festival talks to all interested parties and try out highlights and lowlights together. The participants in this workshop can also develop unusual discussion methods together with the young people themselves and try out how exchange, discussion, dialogue and debate formats can succeed on an equal footing.
